Commemorative coin - Jamsedji Tata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative coin in honour of Jamsetji Tata, popularly known as father of modern Indian industry, on his 175th birth anniversary. Paying tributes to Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, Modi said "those who create history, without seeking or holding power, are truly great".

Set of Rs 100 and Rs 5 coins depicting Jamsetji’s bust, has been minted at the Kolkata mint  and would be priced at Rs 4,500 for the set. In the past, Jamsetji has been honoured by India Post through release of stamps — one in 1958 to mark the golden jubilee of the steel industry in India and another in 1965 in recognition of his contribution to the industrialisation of India.
