Philatelic Day celebrations in Mangalore.

India Post and D.K.Philatelic & Numismatic Association jointly celebrated the Philatelic day on 13th October 2013 as part of the Postal week celebrations which started on 9th of October with the World Post Day.


Mr.K.A.Devaraj, Senior Supt. of Post Offices, Mangalore inaugurated a Philatelic Exhibition. Mr.M.K.Krishnayya, President of D.K.Philatelic & Numismatic Association was the Chief Guest. Mr.S.Gopal from DJPNA., Mr.Ramesh Prabhu, ASP and Mr.T.B. Harish Senior Postmaster of Mangalore were also present.

After inaugurating the exhibition M.K.A Devaraj spoke on the importance of the hobby of Philately. Mr.Krishnayya also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the improvement to be made in the Philatelic Bureau and spoke on the problems faced by the stamp collectors.

Members of D.K.Philatelic & Numismatic Association, Mrs. Vidya Bagalodi exhibited her collection on the theme of "Gandhi" and unusual stamps of the world was exhibited by Mr.Jayaprakash Rao.

There was a Painting and Essay competition for the school students held at the venue. Even though the schools were having holidays for Dasara celebrations the response was good. there were 22 participants for the painting and about 10 participant for the Essay Competition. The theme for the painting was " Mangalore Dasara" and " your dream green city" for the Essay Competition.

Members of D.K.Philatelic & Philatelic Association, Department of Posts and public were present and the exhibition was open till 2 PM.
