Art is not easy, it takes lot of time and efforts,Artists think of Art all the time, unlike professionals who work only for 8 hours a day ' said Parvadhavardhini Gopalkrishnan, Principal of WelcomeGroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal University after inaugurating ‘Glimpses’ an art exhibition by Veena Srinivas at Prasad Art Gallery, Mangalore, on 5th December 2011.
Dr Mukund Prabhu , a well known historian and founder member of our Association spoke about the subject art of ‘Kaavikale’ and its earlier version where it was also used to decorate the borders of windows and doors of the konkani tribes in Goa and uttar Kannada, he said that this art had come from Goa.
Mohan Alva, in his presidential address, also spoke about ‘Kaavikale’ a mythological art. He lamented that this great form of art is losing its value in the name of innovation and development. He said that as many of the temples are renovated and no efforts has been made to preserve this kind of art and lauded Veena for trying to give life to this art through paper.
The art teacher of Veena Srinivas and ex-president of D.K.Philatelic and Numismatic Association, M.R.Pavanje was also present on the stage. He said that it was a great pride to him to see his pupil's art being exhibited and blessed his student and said that he would like to see her attain higher glory.
Baikady Janardhan Achar compered the event and Thapasya Bhandary proposed the vote of thanks.
The exhibition will be open till December 9 from 10 am to 7 pm.
